Im guessing people need to rethink their bias against us Americans . Three of us saved a lot of your European lives this week on a train. Your Welcome, I am guessing they had running shoes on also.

Mical1965, Thanks for demonstrating the arrogance of some Americans. You did not save those European lives so why should I thank you and show appreciation towards you? Would you have done the same had you been in that situation?

Americans are great at marketing themselves. The best marketers in the world. The problem is when they believe the hype themselves.

Just returned from Germany and a week in Paris. I was amused by the amount of neon running shoes on people's feet that were European. Everywhere you look there are Nike stores or sporting stores with theses brands. Big white ones on their feet also. Kids all had tee shirts on with American sayings. My father is Earl? What does that mean? I was asked for directions three times by people who spoke French. We had to help two people figure out their train stops and find their seat on the ICE train. We aren't ugly Americans. We kept our voices low. The three French ladies next to us in one restaurant were very loud, coughing all over us. Yuck. I saw a bit of everything and only one women that looked very chic imo. Baseball caps with NYC are the biggie among boys. I like the shortie boots but the wedged tennis shoes are ugly.

I just hate the stereotypes. We don't walk around with big fanny packs and droopy arse pants so knock it off. I think what annoyed me the most were the dang selfie sticks but only saw them with one nationality. Sat in a park watching all the posing with them. My husband bought a cuban and we sat so far enough away so he could smoke it. Only time we were approached but the clipboard guys this time. A big puff of smoke and a Non and they were off.

Excellent point, Pariswat! Several MEN stood and did what needed to be done. End of that story. Who gives a s#@t about their nationality?! I'd be honored to shake the hand of anyone with that much courage and presence of mind; I don't care if he is wearing Nikes, a fanny pack, or a turban.
