How to go from Positano to Rome?

We will be traveling through Sicily and Southern Italy this summer by car and plan to give up our car in Positano. Any suggestions on the easiest way to get to Rome from Positano? We will be getting flight home from the airport in Rome. Thanks!

Lajolla - There are several options.

These are the best IMO:

- BUS (cheapest)
Direct bus service from Positano to Rome Tiburtina station.
Fare: appr. € 20
Journey time: appr 5 hrs.
www.marozzivt.it

- HYDROFOIL to Naples (appr. € 10)
www.metrodelmare.com
... then TRAIN to Rome (€ 22.50)
www.trenitalia.com

- FERRY to Salerno (appr.€6)
http://www.salernocity.com/comune/tr...i/costiera.asp
... then TRAIN to Rome (€ 25.50)

You could also get a taxi/limo to Naples station (- expect to pay € 85-100).

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Or ... if cost isn't a factor - limo all the way (€ 300-350+)

Hi

Also take the local bus from Positano to Sorrento. This stops outside railway station then local train to Naples then train to Rome.

Cheers

Thanks for the help to Rome from Positano. How long is the ferry to Salerno or hydrofoil from Positano to Naples? Iwas unsure if I was reading the schedule correctly.

Hi L,

One other way is SITA bus to Sorrento and Circumvesuviana commuter train to Naples. Train from Naples to Rome.

Have you considered flying home from Naples, or are you visiting Rome?

Lajolla - Hydrofoil Positano-Naples takes 1 hour. There are usually 2 direct services daily in summer (12.15 and 17.40) - but check.
www.metrodelmare.com

Ferry Positano-Salerno takes approx. 70 mins. (- with a stop en route at Amalfi). There are several services daily.

This link currently still shows the 2005 timetable - but the 2006 summer timetable will almost certainly be the same:
http://www.salernocity.com/comune/tr...i/costiera.asp

The direct bus (Marozzi)leaves at approx. 16.15 (- arriving Rome at about 20.30).

Hope this helps ...
