How to get from Nice to Inverness?

We need to arrange a flight from Nice to Inverness as a part of our honeymoon. I'm having difficulty finding a flight where we don't have to transfer from Hethrow to Gatwick. Any suggestions?

How long is the train? We will have significant amount of luggage with us.

You can fly Easyjet to London Luton and Luton to Inverness. Or you could come in through Brussels

Train from Edinburgh to Inverness would be about 2 1/2 hours.

If you fly to Luton, you'll have an overnight stay as the Luton to Inverness flight leaves 20 minutes before the Nice to Luton arrives.

Also I never recommend going from one low cost fight to another without several hours time between flights as you have to collect you luggage & recheck in - and if you miss checkin, you don't fly

Another option BTW would be Easyjet to Newcastle, but that would add at least 2 hours to your total travelling time.

kib, what is eactly "significant amounts of luggage" - limits for airlines in Europe is typically 20kg checked & 10kg carry on

Significant for train travel. No problem with flying (we will each check one bag). I've had difficulty traveling on train with more than a small suitcase in other parts of Europe.

Yes - that "significant amounts of luggage" could present a significant problem

Sorry - our posts "crossed in the mail"

But really - 20 kg is only 44 lbs so not all that much.

We currently have a flight from Nice to Hethrow, and have been offered a wonderful opportunity to stay at a friend's castle for the remainder of our honeymoon. I was trying to find a simple way to get from Hethrow to Inverness, but have not yet found it. Our usual holiday we are flexible and light travelers, but being our honeymoon we are doing things differently.

Try flybmi.com for flights from Heathrow to Inverness.

If you check www.heathrowairport.com you'll find that www.flybmi.com is the only airline that flies to Inverness from Heathrow.

One other alternative BTW would be the Caledonian Sleeper Train service from Euston which leaves at 21:15 & arrives at 08:30.
