how to find hotel in Venice
Hello, Does anyone heard of The Town House Suite Alloggi alla Scala. My sisters and I have booked a room there but we are clueless about how to find it. We are arriving in Venice by train. I suppose we will get a water taxi to take us there but it is such a little place I don't know if the water taxi can find it. It is suppose to be located somewhere between St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. The address is San Maro 4306 Corte Contarini del Bovola. I can't find it on the Fodor's map of Venice. Does anyone know the best way to proceed and approximatly how much the taxi should cost.

I did a google search of "Town House Suite Alloggi alla Scala" - here's a map

The best thing to do is to contact the proprietor and get directions. From the train station you could just take the vaporetto (water bus) to the nearest bus stop, then walk to the hotel.
If you want to take a taxi, give the captain the address and a map and he'll find it. Taxi will run at least 50Euro but I can't estimate an exact figure.

Water taxi may not be the best choice - since it doesn;t look like this hotel has a private dock. Since you will have to walk with your luggage anyway I would get a detailed map and directions from the hotel.

Hello, I e-mailed the Alloggi alla Scala and there must have been some miscommunication as they sent info regarding the water taxi stop instead of the bus stop. The taxi stop is Campo Manin which is 2 minutes walk from the hotel. I know this is obsure but does anyone know if this would also be the bus stop? Thanks

Do yourself a favor and buy a STREETWISE VENICE map. It is very detailed, cardboard laminated and easy to carry.
Buy vaporetto pass (24, 48 or 72 hours, depending on how long you'll be in Venice) as soon as you get off the train. It's well worth it as one ride costs 6E and you will find it so convenient to hop on and off the vaporettos to get from from one general area to the next.
