Airport in Venice - transportation?

How do you transfer between airport and hotel in San Marco area?
I guess that taxi is not an option.. Is there alternative to vaporetto? I hate going through ticketing/luggage hauling after transatlantic flights, but is that possible to arrange anything without breaking bank?
Thank you for your advice

We used the Alilaguna water bus. It was cheap and easy, and drops you off right at the main Vaporetto stops in town.

This site has very detailed instructions, with photos, of getting to the boat dock after you pick up your luggage, a 10 minute walk:

Here's the Alilaguna site.

Have a great trip!

No vaporetti go to the airport.

The Alilaguna that Nelson has mentioned is an express water bus that runs on a schedule and takes many people to a few stops.

A taxi IS an option--a water taxi, which will cost close to 100 euros, but that's for the whole boat, not per person. If you are a group it might be a reasonable alternative and it would be quicker because it would depart when you were ready and take you directly and as close as possible to your hotel.

For both the water bus and water taxi, you will have a 7-minute walk from the airline terminal to the dock.

You could take a land bus or taxi from directly in front of the terminal to Piazzale Roma in Venice, 15-20 minutes away, and then take a vaporetto from there to the San Marco area.

Or once at the Piazzale Roma you can take a water taxi to your hotel versus taking the vaporetto but whether or not the water taxi can deliver you right to your Venice hotel depends on whether the hotel has accomodiations, a dock, for the water taxi. The hotel you have reserved a room with will be able to advise you if they have a dock for the water taxi and if not the closest water taxi dock from their hotel. The hotel website should give that information but if not email the hotel.

Contact your hotel to get information about transportation options from the airport to the hotel as well as detailed information on how to get to the hotel from the Alilaguna or vaporetto stop, whichever you choose.

Our hotel which was situated near St Mark's Square sent us all the information we needed to arrive directly! We also were given a map! This information was helpful for us first-time visitors to Venice!

By the way, we took the Alilaguna. It is as easy as others have described!

Three ways to do it:
Alilaguna as stated
Blue Bus direct to P. Roma 5e
Orange bus a few stops on way to P. Roma free with your purchase of
vaporetto pass which you can buy just as you exit the baggage area to your right.
Since your near St. Marks Alilaguna would most likely be the best as it stops there.
