How much time needed before Venice flight?

We are arriving in Rome on a direct flight from Chicago at 9:15 AM. How much of a layover should we plan to safely make an AIr Atalia flight to Venice?

On what airline is your Chicago to Rome flight? I've never heard of Air Atalia.

Have you checked the on time record of your incoming flight?

Will you luggage be checked all the way to Venice.

Either way you will have to go through Immigration in rome - which can be time-consuming if several planes land at once. then there will be another security line to get to the next plane. I don;t know the legal connection - but I would be very uncomfoatble with anything less than 2 hours (more if the american fight has a poor ontime record).

you will be able to do customs in venice... so if you can check your baggage through to venice the time required would be less... the airport is large so you do need time... follow transfer signs..

call american and ask them the suggested time for transfers and tack some time on to that...also ask them about checking luggage through with the change in airline..

if you have to collect your luggage you will need much more time.

As per the forums advice, we plan to carry-on. We are scheduled to arrive at 9:15 AM. I can book a 1:15 PM flight with Alitalia. They have flights every hour. Just don't how flexible Alitalia is about getting on an earlier flight should we make it through earlier.
