How many castles have you been to?

One of the features on the Fodor's landing page is about famous/wonderful/unique castles all over europe.

I've done 13 of them - among a lot of other castles across europe. How about you?

Some are very famous and most/many people will have been to them ( Versailles, Neuschwanstein) but some are quite remote/obscure.

It's the Editors Picks section on the homepage

http://www.fodors.com/news/photos/25...stles#!1-intro

I've been to 3 of them.

Only six of the picks, but many others.

We favor castles built for fighting, preferably in ruins, over girly dress-up palaces.

The forward (and back) arrows on that site aren't working for me at all! It's stuck on Karlsteijn.

I've been to five on that list. I'm kinda castled-out after my last trip. I think I'll skip castles for a year or so.

Only 9 of those for me. Countless others not on the list, of course.

Thanks, Christina. That didn't work, either, but I switched to Internet Explorer and it did.

I've been to 12. Obviously I haven't spent much time in the UK.

What a list!

Mont St Michel is an abbey, not a castle; whatever about the gardens, the chateau at Villandry is nothing out of the ordinary; I find it difficult to see Blarney castle as "awe-inspiring".

There also seems to be a difficulty in distinguishing between a palace and a castle.

Not all are castles - several are palaces and at least one is an Abbey . .

But if the list I've visited 17.

Versailles is a palace, not a castle. Castles are fortified.
