How expensive is Allard in Paris?
I've seen many recommendations for this place, and now a "friend's friend" said we should go there. But we're very uncomfortable spending big $$$$ on one meal, and everyone's idea of "moderate" or "expensive" is relative. Does anyone remember specifics in USD for average dinner for 2? We usually order the vin de table.

Hi, Hagan!
In November 2000 we had dinner at Allard and the waiter gave us the menu, since it was our anniversary and the menu has the date on it (who says French waiters are not nice??)
So although the prices are almost 3 years old, here are some for you..
They are in Francs so I will just tell you the USD amount..
fois gras appetizer-$14-
duck salad - 20-
escargots (doz) 14-
Sole Meuniere- 23--
Salmon -15-
Cassoulet 16-
Poulet de bresse (for 2) 43-
Filet de boeuf 24-
Fromage 9-
Pomme Tart 9-
Charlotte au chocolat 9-
Sorbet maison 8-
that should give you some idea, no?

Frommers estimates current prices as follows: "Main courses 18€-35€ ($16-$31); fixed-price menus 23€-30€ ($20-$27) at lunch, 30€ ($27) at dinner"

Thanks to both for your replies. It's great to have a good idea, and everything sounds yummy already. But Lesli, I think you have your Euros/dollars backwards. 27 Euros is about $30. I DO wish it were the other way around!
