How does everyone have time to post to Fodors?

obxgirl,
Maybe you'd have to know our front desk person...We all love her, but she keeps a local news page resident on her computer, so thanks to her frequent news bulletins,we're always among the first to know when there's been a shooting, stabbing, 5-car pileup, or weird jury verdict.

I was going to say theres nothing good on TV at nite, but I used to read alot more in the evenings before I found this site. But, what it comes down to is yes, it is a matter of priorities. I have a home business that I can do anytime but seems like I do it lots of nites after midnight because I get sucked into Fodors and get down to business.

hi Marilyn. Well, our wireless setup is pretty simple really. I should have said, "where ever we go on property". I sat up the house so that it's basically a secured wi-fi access point tied to our broadband internet connection, by way of wireless router. So then we can wander around the house or out to the pool with the laptops connected.
I did check out a very cool setup the other day that connects your laptop via wireless card to an uplink module on a mobile phone that seemed to work pretty well. More toys... hmmm... hehe
Still sorry to be missing that GTG. My timing, as usual!

I'm another in the self-employed club, doing freelance work mostly from my home -- where my biggest decision daily is usually which 'desk' I'll use: the real one in the office, the one at my kitchen island, or the one at the table on our back deck (aren't wireless networks great?). I often stop by here for a little diversion when I'm having writer's block. Thinking about travel is usually enough to get the old brain going again. So, back to work I go....

Same dependence on wireless connection as Clifton here. Take nothing to learn how to set this up, Marilyn... just go to Best Buy or Circuit City or CompUSA and let them know what you have for (broadband) internet - - you'll need a wireless router (sometimes also called an "access point"
, and a wireless "card" for each computer in your home (primarily logical for laptops, but relevant for desktops also).
You can be up and mobile in minutes.

Thanks Clifton and Rex. I thought you meant wireless on the go, not on the property. I'm about to buy some tiny little weightless computer and thought not having to really "connect" when traveling would be cool. It's coming, I know.
(Clifton, so far it's just Anne and me, but we'll miss you!)

Though I have worked most recently as a children's library in a grade school, a substitute teacher, and a reading aide, I'm home now, and I enjoy it. I have time to take walks, read, and spend time on the computer. It also allows me to go to Paris and visit our kids and granddaughter when my husband has free time.
Best,
Sandy
