i_am_kane, When writing a trip report, I always wonder about all the details I include. It is nice to hear that the details are still helpful many months later.

Wow! Can't wait to read this through after my Christmas rush here. Have saved this to favourites for my Italian research.
Thanks for the view!

Yes yes! Another "Si" vote. Ellenem, I have learned so much from your reports and I enjoy your style of travel. I will be going to Venice for the fist time this coming October, so I would devour another Ellenem Venice report!

Islandgirl42 - You should probably start a new post with your specific questions.

We just stayed as part of a three week trip at the Al Ponte Mocenigo and were in the annex. Yhis stay followed a cruise. We had stayed pre-cruise at another hotel. Love the Mocenigo and would happily return. Best croissants ever!

pmuzzy, It's nice to hear that Al Ponte Mocenigo worked so well for you. Did you see any sgn of new construction there? I've heard rumors of another expansion.

ellenem - just wondering whether your "address book" for Venezia and Firenze are all recommended places - I assume you would not list anything that wasn't up to scratch. I'm going in May and have already amassed many more suggested places to eat and indulge in gelato than I can possibly go to, so what are your top 5 places?
Thanks.

My address book is five years old at this point, though I have returned to most of those listed within the last two or three years, except Oseria alla Botte, which has closed.

"Up to scratch"? I hope my descriptions gave you an idea of what to expect--unpretentious delicious meals. If you are expecting fine dining, few of these are on that level.

I'm planning another trip to Venice in a few months, and hope to return to two that I have enjoyed that not on this list since I did not eat there on this trip, but would be in my top five: Anice Stellato (Fondamenta de la Sensa, 3272) and Ristorante la Bitta (Calle Lunga de San Barnaba, 2753A)

Just testing the new forum

Trying a post in my old trip report, just to see if it will change my "last visited" date at the top of the page in this new format.

I wish we could edit these really old threads, but it seems not to be possible--perhaps I can reply to my individual posts with updates.
