How do you "bookmark" something, please?

Sorry to be asking a technical question here. If there's a better forum to ask something like this, please inform me of that as well!

"Bookmark" could mean two things:

1) Save a thread in your "Favorites". In that case you open the thread by clicking its listing in the left column. Then click on the thread's title. Choose your "favorites" button, add to Favorites (or bookmarks).

2) Or you may mean "tagging" a thread so you can find it later? On that thread, choose "post a reply". Type the word bookmark into your reply and post it. Later, you can click on your own name ( top right of this page) and that thread will come up because your post is in it. Your posts appear in chronological order.

The 2nd method is only useful if you intend to get back to it soon. If you happen to be a prolific poster, the bookmarked thread eventually disappears to the back pages of your postings.

You could also email the thread to yourself by clicking on "Email this page" below the replies.

Thanks so much, JeanneB. I truly appreciate your step-by-step instructions, which is exactly what I need.

Carrybean: OK, that would never have occurred to me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Personally, I don't care for 'bookmarking' by reposting to a thread. Mucks up the thread itself, and often, people do it to old old threads. Better to save as a 'Favorite' on your pc, and not muddy up the threads list.
Thank you.

Simpler - go to the posting you are interested in then instead of clicking with the left mouse button, use the right one and select the "add to favorites" or "bookmark this link" depending on internet browser.

<<What Mac owners do I don't know>>

With my MAC I do exactly as JeanneB described in her first suggestion.

<<1) Save a thread in your "Favorites". In that case you open the thread by clicking its listing in the left column. Then click on the thread's title. Choose your "favorites" button, add to Favorites (or bookmarks).>>

I used to do the reply thingy and marking as bookmarking, but as others have mentioned it does muck up the threads.
