How do I get from Hvar-Venice in May?!?
I'm going crazy- please help! I know I can take a catamaran/ferry from Hvar-Split. But what's the best way to get to Venice after that? I heard the ferry from Split- Chioggia is not in service (is this true?). Is my other option to travel to Ancona and then the train ride up to Venice? How do I book all this-- can a travel agent do it????

we were going to go to venice, but decided to go to ancona from hvar instead. however, after several inquiries with the european agents for jadrolinija ferry lines, i found "ocean 24" in germany to be by FAR the best. they charged no booking fee (all others did) and NO charge to send the tickets to america (most others charged 20+ euro per ticket.) their web site is quite good, also. i haven't received the tickets yet, though... will post when i get them and how long it took.

Sorry to "hi-jack" your thread, but just wanted to let you know of my experience with Ocean24. They were terific! I booked tickets from Hvar to Dubrovnik on a Thursday and received my tickets by the following Wednesday! Less then a week, and that was mailed from Germany to South Carolina!
Can't say enough good things about Ocean24! =D>

The Chioggia-Split service is not running this year, though it's still advertised on some web sites. May is low season for ferries between Italy and Croatia, and you'll have no problem booking at the port. Both Blue Line (www.bli-ferry.com) and Jadrolinija (www.jadrolinija.hr) have overnight sailings between Split and Ancona. SNAV's fast catamaran doesn't start till 10 June, and would not be convenient anyway: it arrives in Ancona at 2130 so you'd have to stop a night there before getting a train to Venezia.
