How do I buy TGV tickets for my kids without the CARD CHILD PLUS ?

We (wife, 2 kids and I) plan to book from CDG to Avignon on the 30th Nov. We were quoted 101.80 Euros with the above card. The cost of the card is 38 Euro. I tried to look for the prices to travel with my kids on TGV but was unable to get children prices. All the prices were quoted stating with the discount from the card child plus. Since we are only going to use the TGV once, getting the card is not useful.

Some questions I have:

a) Is there a children fare without showing any cards or must I? My kids are 6 & 7
b) Do we have to do reservation for the tickets bought over the internet? The day of travel is a Sunday.
c) Is there any other family or group discount available? I can?t seem to find any for families traveling together.
d) Is three hours sufficient to clear everything and board the train at 10am
e) Are the car rental companies walk able distances from the TGV station?

Thanks for the inputs

Hi s

I did your booking. Since you are going one way, you are not eligible for other discounts and would have to pay the full fare of 213E in 2d cl.

Your other option is to purchase the CARD CHILD PLUS 50%, which will lower the price to 101E. (This is a discount under which the adult gets a discount if traveling with a child.)

When you fill in the passengers, do not select a rail card. Choose "card plus child 50%) for the fare. When you
get to the menu for confrming our choice, click on "request a fare card" and go from there.

Reservations are required for TGV and are part of the fare.

If your plane is due to arrive at 7:00 AM, you should be able to make your train if you are arriving in CDG 2. To be safe, you could also book on the train at 11:00.

Hi s,

It looked to me, from the SNCF site, that you buy the discount card and the tickets at the same time, for about 106E.

Even if you have to pay the extra 38E, you are saving 140E.

Thanks ira for your help.

Anyway the card actually cost 58 euro and with that the cost is still cheaper than without the card.
I think we can still use this card when we are in Paris. Ijust booked the tickets and the card over the net. Have to print them out by 26th.
