We stayed at the Comfort Inn Hyde Park which had apartments you could rent by the night. We had reserved a two bedroom but received a three bedroom when we checked in. We had a full kitchen with a washer/dryer combo. It was nice not having to rent for an entire week since we only needed a few nights. Location is fine but is about a 7 minute walk to the closest tube station. The street it is only is very quiet. We were near Whitley's which provided a mall setting with shops and restaurants. Also there were grocery stores somewhat near.

It was clean and functional and roomy. Only complaint was we could hear the people above walking about which was annoying.

A bare bones continental breakfast was included in the room rate.

The Cgequers of kensington might suit you. It's a flat hotel, maening the partments ( studios, one and two bedrooms) all have a kitchinette, and you have the hotel services as well, as complimentary breakfast, daily housekeeping services and linen changes, etc.

Gloucester tube station is practically accross the street, as is a supermarket. The Chequers is quite close to V&A Museum, Harrods, and Hyde Park. I stayed there with my family and found it a lovely and very convenient place.

Check it out:

http://www.bhrc.co.uk/hotel_details.asp?est_cd=B8868

http://www.londonhotelscentre.com/cheqapt.htm

http://www.londonservicedapartments.co.uk/economy/chequers.htm
