Hotels Sevilla

We are travelling to Sevilla in April. With the exception of the Amadeus, which seems to have mixed reviews depending upon the floor you were allocated, can anyone recommend another location. We will have lots of luggage and a child sharing the room so hotels with bigger rooms would be appreciated.

on www.bancotel.com i saw a five starhotel with large rrooms for 50 euros a night when doing a search for feb.
it is on the island of cartuja which is NOT central, but there are a lot of fine hotels there giving great deals off-season. probably a 5 minute taxi ride (5 euros) to center-center.

if you are going at easter.. good luck getting a room..period.
we are staying at casas de la judería but i am not familiar with room sizes. sorry.
the newer convention hotels will probably be a better bet for you. nothing is too far away in sevilla.

if you email a few hotels they will send you the measurements of a standard room.

We (daughter, son-in-law, grandson 13 mos., I) were in Sevilla in mid-October and we rented an apartment from www.sevilla5.com.

Our apt was Apt. San Bernardo, c/Eduardo Dato 23. We had 2 bedrooms/2 baths, crib, free parking (in covered/secure garage under the building), all for $89/night.

We LOVED our apartment and our location. There was a children's park across the street, a grocery store around the corner, a GREAT tapas place around the corner, and we were in walking distance of everything.

Not only was the apt clean, but it was stocked with everything you would need to set up housekeeping, even had a washing machine and detergent.

I took pictures and also kept a journal of our trip (Sevilla, Granada, Barcelona) . . . if you're interested, you can email me at [email protected].

Have a great trip,
Sandy (in Denton)

Hotel Dona Maria received a great review on www.slowtrav.com

According to the review, the hotel is across the plaza from the gates of the Cathedral (third largest in the world, btw) and the Giralda Tower.

That is a GREAT location, in my view. According to the review, this is the address and phone for the hotel:

Hotel Dona Maria
Don Remondo 19, Sevilla , Phone: tel. 34 954 224 990, fax 34 954 219 546

But I suggest you check the review directly at slowtrav.com. Once there, click on "Spain" near the top, then "hotels" then "all hotel reviews."

We stayed at the Dona Maria several years ago and loved it. The location is superb, desk personnel were extremely pleasant and helpful and our room was quite large for European standards and had an excellent bathroom. Included breakfast was fine.

However, I have seen negative comments about the hotel on threads here that were precisely the opposite of our experience.

Who knows? We remember our experience there as a very good one. Others were perhaps not as lucky, or have much higher expectations than we do. If you want our room number I can look it up. Let me know either here or by e-mail.

There seems to be plenty of choice. Thanks to everyone who sent info. Our stay in Sevilla has now been extended from 3 to 5 days as a result of Fodors contributors enthusiastic reviews!

Hosteria del Laurel in Santa Cruz district. I wrote a trip report which you scan for details... http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34483366

Ask for a triple.

Loved the Hotel Dona Maria.

Great location. Wonderful views. Very helpful staff-front desk man will get you flamenco tickets, dinner reservations, bullfighting tickets, whatever.
