Hotels in the 6th
As part of a extended European vacation, my wife and I will be in the Paris for eight days/nights (June 27 - Jul 5). We have decided to split our stay between the right and left bank. We have already booked our right bank accomodations and have narrowed our left bank search to the following three hotels: The Aramis Saint Germain, Hotel Le Madison and Hotel Le Clos Médicis.

Feedback on any of the hotels captioned above would be greatly appreciated. Other hotel advice/suggestions in the 6th would also be welcomed. Many Thanks.

You have chosen popular hotels which all get lots of feedback here. There have been positive comments just recently re both Le Madison and Clos Medicis.

Since you appear to be new to this board, you may not be aware that there is a search function here. It's a little finicky - best to type "madison and paris" "clos medicis" and "aramis and paris" to find many threads about these hotels.

I would be happy in any of your picks, but if my budget allowed, I'd probably opt for Clos Medicis for the quiet location, or the Madison for its lovely decor.

SandC
Will be staying at Clos Medicis next week and will certainly let you know how it was!
To get an idea of the neighborhood and streets of any of the hotels you mentioned, go to www.pagesjaunes.fr and type in the address, and it will give you a virtual tour of the address and street! Very cool!

I've stayed at the Madison, and can highly recommend this hotel. The location is very good. It's set back just a little off of Blvd. St.-Germain, so you don't get a lot of noise but you do get the convenience of being right in the middle of things. The room I had was a standard double facing the boulevard, and was definitely on the large side by Paris standards. I had a nice view of St.-Germain des Pres just across the street. It was nicely decorated with a modern bathroom. The bathroom had double sinks, which I really liked. They also have a very nice breakfast room and serve a good buffet in the morning.

I think all of these hotels are in the same general area (I know where the Clos Medicis is, but not the Aramis), and I'm sure you'll like the neighborhood. Lots of shops, restaurants, and cafes, and you can walk easily to many other areas of interest. You're also close to several metro and RER stops.

I will second the above post about the Madison Hotel. It is wonderful! good location, helpful reception, clean, great full American buffet breakfast, and right on Blvd. st Germain (set back a little as mentioned).
I think it is one of the best hotels in Paris for this size and price range.

Hotel Madison would be my choice out of the three hotels you mention. Buffet b'fast is included in the rates and it's located on Blvd. St. Germain, just across from the church. The hotel is set back from the boulevard a bit so that's good. We walked past it and it really looks nice. The Clos Medicis is also good but Le Madison is way better. And the Aramis St. Germain is just okay.

Lesli: Thanks for the tip on the searching feature.

Kristy: Cool link - It was very amusing to take a v-tour up Boul. Saint Germain. Enjoy your trip.

Julie, mari3 & francophile03: Thanks for your opinions/comments on Hotel Le Madison. From your descriptions, the hotel sounds like it is just what we are looking for.

Again, thank you all for the suggestions/comments etc..
