I am planning out my trip for 6 days in Iceland in the beginning of June. I was hoping to get some advice from all of you Iceland fans regarding places to stay. I read about "a room with a view," however, one of my travel companions doesn't want to stay in an apartment - he wants a hotel. I've just started researching what's out there, but I don't really know what prices to expect. My questions are:

Can anyone recommend a hotel in the downtown Reyjavik area? My requirements are:
Clean
Personal Bathroom

What can I expect to pay for that? There will be 3 of us in the room, so we need to be able to get a cot into the room. Any recommendations are truly welcome.

Thank you!

Check out Room with a View. Arni has apartments and it's well regarded with Fodor's posters.

We have reservation there for June.

I had tried to book Room With a View just yesterday. Unfortunately they are booked for the time we needed. Through Iceland Air I was able to get Hotel Centrum for $230 per night (a bargain in comparison to other hotels I checked). Hotel Centrum seems to have a great location and is brand new.

I don't know about Iceland, but in British English a cot is a baby's cot. Is that what you mean, or do you mean an extra single bed ?

A few years ago I stayed at the Hotel Borg in the heart of Reykjavik and loved it -- it's in walking distance to everything and has far more character than any other hotel I saw in town. The only downside may be the loud music in the bar downstairs on weekends, but it didn't bother me and some people might appreciate the activity!

I also stayed at the Hotel Borg, and its very centrally located, and we had a great room.
