Gaja Winery is in Barberesco in the heart of Piedmont's wine area (Langhe, Monferrato and Roero hills). There are many charming B&B's around the area, or both Asti and Alba are nearby both with with small hotels, although I favour Asti as the best town to stay for visiting the area. I would run a google search for B&B's or hotels.

we can highly recommend http://www.cascinachristiana.com/
for a special but reasonably priced stay.

it was very near nizza monferrato.
the host was very accomodating.

it is also a new winery and convenient to visiting others.

this was ecellent quality for price.
it also has a pool.

We stayed at Ca'San Sebastiano and it was beautiful. Great accomadations, beautful restored farm house. There is a pool, a full spa retreat, and a winery. It is in your price range and includes breakfast. [email protected]

There are lots of wonderful bed and breakfasts and small hotels which would fit your price range. Gaja is in Barbaresco as the nice poster from Villa Sampaguita says (that is a very nice property, by the way, very close to Asti). YOu don't need to stay in just the Langhe though, there are many, many lovely places in the Monferrato (the stretch which includes Asti, Acqui Terme, Nizza Monferrato, and literally hundreds of small, precious wineries, cheese producers, and confectioners...all with very few tourists). The Langhe is beautiful as well, more touristed, but also with lots of charm and character. Gaja is of course one of the most famous wineries in Italy. But do take time to visit smaller producers. A good B&B or Agriturismo will be able to give you lots and lots of info in this regard.

Best of luck visiting our beautiful Piemonte!!
