Hotels in Munich
Hi,
My daughter and I will be visiting Munich for the first time in April. I'm looking for hotels that are not too expensive and in close proximity to most sites. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Any hotel near an S-bahn is a good bet, as you can get just about anywhere in Munich via train.
Motel One is an inexpenisve chain and they have several locations in Munich. I've stayed at the one near Munich Ost train station, and found it very convenient.

We stayed at Hotel Metropol about five years ago. The rates look to be about 210 euro a night now, but it was practically across the street from the train station. A good walk to Marienplatz but doable. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Next door was another cute hotel Cocoon, which had a nice bar.

You might also look into Kings Hotel Center and Kings Hotel First Class (which we stayed at in November, under $300 for two nights, great breakfast, booked on Hotels.com, small room, but quite comfortable for a few nights). Both are located an easy walk from the Hauptbahnhof and walking distance to Marienplatz. Check the hotel directly as well as booking sites as prices can vary wildly.

How exciting that you and your daughter are visiting Munich in April! For budget-friendly yet convenient accommodations, consider looking into hotels in the Altstadt-Lehel district. This area puts you in proximity to many of Munich's key attractions such as Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt, and the historic Old Town. Options like Hotel Adria or Hotel Sendlinger Tor offer affordability and central locations. Additionally, the Maxvorstadt district, known for its artsy vibe and close proximity to museums like the Pinakotheken, could be worth exploring for reasonably priced hotels like Hotel Luitpold. I hope you have a wonderful stay in Munich!
