Hotels in London and getting to Stansted
Hi,
I am looking for a moderately priced hotel in London for my husband and I ($125.00 -$135.00 U.S.) that is centrally located for 3 nights in July.
I am aslo trying to figure out how to get to Stansted to catch a morning flight after our 3 night stay.
I appreciate any assistance I can get.....first trip to Europe.
Many Thanks,
Touring

The St. Margaret's Hotel is in a good location and, according to the Web site (www.stmargaretshotel.co.uk), looks like a good deal.

Having taken an early flight from Stansted, I'd be quite inclined to stay in Bishops Stortford the night before, maybe at the George Hotel - http://www.stanstedhotels.net/
It's a pleasant town and close to the airport by cab. I bet you'd find it more comfortable than schlepping to STN in the morning from central London. Relocate there the afternoon before your flight then train into town and back for the evening.

Whilst the Stansted Express will deliver you to Stansted in time (and at great expense), you do have the problem of how to get to Liverpool Street station in order to get the Stansted Express in the first place.
Travelling at night within London is either expensive (taxi) or longwinded (bus) so realistically you'd have to stay near Liverpool Street Station in order to catch an early morning train.
However there are cheaper ways (which is what you asked) of getting to Stansted for an early flight. And that is to use either the Terravision or National Express coaches from Victoria bus & coach stations respectively.
Have a look at www.stanstedairport.co.uk which has links to them.

I can't really see the problem with getting to Liverpool Street to catch the Stansted Express. Unless you're really tight for cash, a taxi from your centrally located hotel will be quick and simple.
Stansted is a long drive out of congested London, so for speed, I'd always choose the Stansted Express train from Liverpool Street.

I don't think you can find a clean, nice hotel in central London for 60-70 pounds a night.
try www.londontown.com for a shot at it though.
