Hotels in Florence and other similar questions

Hi, I have some really basic questions about the Tuscany area. We will be taking a train from Venice to Florence on 6/16. Do you have any suggestions for a good hotel in the middle of everything?? We are a young 20 something couple and are looking for something in the midst of the action. How many nights do you suggest we stay in Florence before renting a car to drive up to Cinqe Terra (any help with this area would be great too)? We will only be in the Tuscany region for 4/5 days before heading off to Rome. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! GRAZIE!

Don't know your budget but Hotel Casci is grea value (and location). As far as how long to stay, if you are a serious lover of art and art museums, you would need 3+ days otherwise 2 days is probably enough (given you time in tuscany).

Ruby the hote Bellettini( annex rooms are prefered, see rants & raves) www.hotelbellettini.com ,the hotel is well located near the Dumo.
As far as how many days in Florence, that depends on you I would say 3 at the min. and if you want to take day trips say to Siena, you would need at least one more day.
I love love Florence and could spend a week there no problem.
I suggest you get a good guide book and mark some of the main things you want to do and see while in Florence, that will give you a good idea how many days you will need.
Best of luck
