Hotels in Florence and other similar questions

Hi, I have some really basic questions about the Tuscany area. We will be taking a train from Venice to Florence on 6/16. Do you have any suggestions for a good hotel in the middle of everything?? We are a young 20 something couple and are looking for something in the midst of the action. How many nights do you suggest we stay in Florence before renting a car to drive up to Cinqe Terra (any help with this area would be great too)? We will only be in the Tuscany region for 4/5 days before heading off to Rome. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! :) GRAZIE!

Don't know your budget but Hotel Casci is grea value (and location). As far as how long to stay, if you are a serious lover of art and art museums, you would need 3+ days otherwise 2 days is probably enough (given you time in tuscany).

We go a week after you! Check out hoteldali.com, we are staying here and they are quick w/responses and seem very nice. 2 night min.
you can find other options at the eurocheapo.com site as well. Good luck!

Ruby the hote Bellettini( annex rooms are prefered, see rants & raves) www.hotelbellettini.com ,the hotel is well located near the Dumo.
As far as how many days in Florence, that depends on you I would say 3 at the min. and if you want to take day trips say to Siena, you would need at least one more day.
I love love Florence and could spend a week there no problem.
I suggest you get a good guide book and mark some of the main things you want to do and see while in Florence, that will give you a good idea how many days you will need.
Best of luck
fluffy
