You might want to try to get into Mr. Underhill's at Dinham Weir...http://www.mr-underhills.co.uk/
While we didn't stay there we had a wonderful meal there and at The Merchant House and also Hibiscus.
If the bread pudding is on the menu at The Merchant House, it might not be in August, try it! It was so good when my DH said he could have a second helping, they brought him one!!

I had to go look up the name of the place we did stay. We had a lovely room in one of the houses and then went to the main house , just across the street, for a full English breakfast freshly prepared. No 28 is the name

The Feathers Hotel www.feathersatludlow.co.uk/ Just looking at their web site will make you want to stay tthere. Do take one of the town walks if you have time. They are put on by the local tourist office and are most interesting.

If you have a car while in Ludlow, a trip to Stokesay castle is a must. it is a 13th century fortified house and they have a remarkable audio tour. It is one of my favorites.
