Hotel with Air Conditioning in Bern in July?

Looking for a hotel in Bern, Switzerland that has air conditioning. Been in Bern twice before but never in the middle of summer. Was there in September and it could be hot. So, wondering if you have any suggestions. Want it to be within walking distance (or short tram ride) from railroad station.

Average daily high in Bern in July is 23C or 73F. While occasional temp up to 27C/80F may be possible, the humidity tends to be low so rarely oppressive. And night temp is a cool 13C/55F. So you don't really need air-conditioning, just an open window and a shade/window blinds.

Alec - I know those are the average temps, but it can go as high as 90F.

Also heard that it can be rainy at that time - which ups the humidity. (Although I went with my husband this past April, where the weather charts seem to predict low chance of rain - but we got rain every day.)

Dukey - I think the Schweitzerhof may be a bit too pricey for us, but will take a look.

Ah, the weather question. I was there last year at the end of August. It was 95F each day and the night room temp did not go below 80F even at midnight - no wind. It was miserable. I would have liked to have the "average" temperature. With trams/buses going everywhere in this compact city, I would not restrict the search to near the railroad station.

greg - Where did you stay? Did you at least have a fan? Just walking around in that weather would exhaust me. Any restaurants, etc. with AC that you could go into for relief?

Anyone else - Know of a hotel with AC?

Thanks Dukey for the link.

I'm now starting to think about May instead of July.

I think in Switzerland because it is usually not needed, you have to look at least 4* hotels to find one with AC. It depends what you are willing to pay, I believe the 4* Savoy and Ambassador both have AC in Bern and are conveniently located. I think the Savoy is a bit cheaper, should be around 275 CHF. http://www.hotel-savoy-bern.ch/
