Hotel Transfer from Bellagio
Does anyone know my options as to how I can get from my hotel in Bellagio (Lake Como) to the airport in Milan? The travel agent cannot provide a tranfer for me because I'm staying in a hotel not included in the tour group she uses.....Thanks.

We took a ferry from Bellagio to Como (city) and then struggled to find a taxi (it was also fairly early a.m., I think on a weekend, and they were scarce). We actually splurged on a taxi to Malpensa, since we had such trouble getting train -->Como on the trip in and did not have a car.
If I did it again, I'd try for a train from Varenna as suggested above.

The train schedule from Varenna to Milan is posted on
TrenitaliaPlus.com. I don't think the train stops in Bellagio, but am not sure. If not, take the ferry from Bellagio to Varenna and jump on the train there.

Are you talking about Malpensa or Linate? I assume Malpensa. There are trains for Milan out to Malpensa (50 kiloometers) but they don't run from Milano Centrale, but from another of the train stations. There are hotels with shuttles near Malpensa. Hotel Cervo, Hotel Ascot Malpensa etc
Check the Milan Airport website. You can find out about getting from the center of Milan to either of the airports and I know that there is a listing of hotels near Malpensa on the site http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/

From the central train station in Milan (Centrale) there is the Malpensa airport bus. I runs every 30 minutes from the central station to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Malpensa Airport. Cost is about 5euro. The bus stores you luggage underneath the bus. Figure maximum an hour trip (depending on the traffic).
lcaruso, there are two "Milan" airports. The major one is Malpensa, the other one (just east of Milan) is Linate. So make sure you know which airport you need to get to.

Whoever told you that you can "walk from Bellagio to Varenna" was on something. They are across the lake from each other..you could SWIM or take the ferry over..Varenna is the ONLY mid-lake town with direct rail service.
Here is the URL for the ferry schedules

There are trains starting at 5:15 AM from Varenna to Milan but the first ferry over may not run until well after 6:00 AM

You may have trouble finding a boat-and-train combo early enough to get you from Bellagio to Malpensa. The ferry from Bellagio to Varenna only takes 15 minutes, but you may have to wait a while for the train. The train to Milan's Central Station would then take an hour and quarter. You could then take an airport bus from the Central station to Malpensa, but figure that's going to be well over an hour at that time of morning (rush hour).
On the whole, I'd advise a taxi service. You could ask my friend Antonello at http://bestviaggi.com/home/?lang=EN - he's utterly reliable and speaks very good English. I don't remember the exact price from Bellagio, I think it's around 160 euros.
