Hi,

Flying out of Venice around 10AM on Sunday, August 18, 2013....looking to stay over the night before at a convenient hotel near airport. Any suggestions?

It wouldn't be difficult to get from Venice proper to the airport by 8 AM. Don't know what you'll be doing before your departure. But I'd spend that last night in Venice. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and the experience of staying there at night is particularly enjoyable.

Instead of staying near the airport you might want to try to find an accommodation walking distance from Piazzale Roma where shuttle buses leave for the airport. It's located across the Grand Canal from the Venice Santa Lucia train station.

If it were me, I would go to www.bookings.com, put in your date, then go to "map view" - - you can then hover the cursor over the hotels close by Piazzale Roma, and look for the best price/quality ratio (prices and ratings show up as you hover - - anything rated over 8.0 will be great, and over 7.0 still acceptable. Then you can stroll over to the bus in the morning.
