Hotel suggestions in Brugge?
I will be staying one night in Brugge this July. I'd appreciate hotel suggestions. I prefer simpler, smaller places with a little charm over the larger business hotels, and I'd like to stay in the 120 Euro range (for a single room), but central location is a more important consideration than price. If I could keep it under 150 Euros, I'd be happy.
And while I'm at it...best way to get to Brugge from London? Eurostar to Paris then train to Brussels, then train to Brugge? Is there a more direct route?

I really enjoyed staying at the Jan Brito because it filled with old World charm (a historic building), had a marvelous breakfast and for me, best of all, it was at a sufficient remove from the main square, which was packed with tourist-oriented activity like costumed performers and horse-and-buggy rides.
It has a garden and is about a 10 minute walk from the main tourist congregation. So while being conveniently "central", it wasn't tourist central.
I'm sorry I don't know what the prices are for July for a single. And I can't help you with finding the best route to Brugge.

I was travelling the other way, from Brugge to London, but it seems I was able to catch the Eurostar Chunnel train in Brussels. So I'd try to go direct London to Brussels on Eurostar, then local train to Brugge.

This is an absolutely charming B&B run by an older lady and her Czech artist husband - highly recommended! www.number11.be
Isn't there still a ferry from Dover to Ostende? There is an abundance of local trains from Ostende to Brugge. I suppose the ferry companies can help here. Good luck and Bon Voyage!!

We stayed at the Hotel Adornes http://www.adornes.be/ When were there last April it was 95 euros per night. Nice clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast and free bike rental. I'm jealous--Brugge is one of my favorite places!!!

no problem with adornes www.adornes.be . It is tripadvisor's n°1 for Brugge.
You could also find a B&B, Brugge is full of it. See http://www.brugge.be/internet/en/toerisme/hotels.htm for an extensive list.
For the chunnel, I think you should transfer in Lille.
