My husband and I are going to Europe in late May. We will be staying in Brussels for three nights. We then have two nights before we have to be in London. It's been suggested we stay in Brugge. Does anyone have any better ideas or comments. Also, what's the cheapest and best way to get to London from Belgium?

Don't know if it's the cheapest, unless you get some special priced tickets..but you could take eurostar from either Brussels or Lille. It is a short train trip from Brugge to either of them.

I am not sure what your plans are but if you go to Brugge from Brussels, from Brugge you can head to Oostende and take the ferry to Dover. Else you have to get back to brussels to take the Eurostar or fly to London.
When in Brugge, make sure you look for Dumon Chocolate shop (just off the Markt) and enjoy their caramel filled treats. They are absolutely delicious. Have a great time on your trip.

you should see brugge, you will not be disappointed. eurostar to london is great.

The trip from Brugge to either Brussels or Lille is just over an hour and trains run hourly. the eurostar 3+ hours..a ferry to dover would take much longer , then you;d still have to get to London from Dover.

We have gone to Brussels/Brugge many times from London, mostly by air but two years ago we had to go via the Chunnel due to airport computer problems and thoroughly enjoyed it. The very cheapest way from Belgium to London is by Eurolines coach service with a one-way fare of 36.00 GBP p.p., which includes all fees. You can actually leave for London from Brugge without backtracking to Brussels or going to Lille. The trip is quite quick and easy. You can catch the bus at the Eurolines coach stop, which is at the Brugge train station. Buses leave daily at 1:45 PM and get into London at 6:45 PM. There are 3 stops along the way: Ostend, the security checks at the Chunnel entrance and then in Canterbury, Kent before arriving in London. I made this trip last month and found it great, but the one drawback was the French security check at the Chunnel pre-clearance. I found it quite scary as the officials were less than pleasant and trust me, they don't joke around. Wow!!

While some would never dream of taking "the bus", just thought you'd like to know for future reference that return ticket costs are very cheap if you book 30 days in advance. Another advantage is that you can arrive and depart from different cities and still get these real cheap fares. For what it's worth and have a great trip!

we took the chunnel train...it was quick but not really cheap...look for excursion fares...

i forgot to say that you need to sample chocolates from several of the shops in brugges....you have never had anything that good!!!!

Flying VirginExpress is sometimes cheaper than taking the Eurostar. Of course you will then have to go to Brussels Intl. Airport.
