Hotel River in Florence

I have not come across any comments about this hotel. Does anyone know of it and has any good/bad feedback?

Thanks.

My husband and I have stayed there twice. First time, we arrived without a reservation and the tourist office sent us there. Second time, we chose it. It has a fabulous location (on the river, of course)about two blocks from the Ponte Veccio. We've stayed in a variety of rooms and they do range from quite large and grand to tiny. The staff is very helpful and there is a nice breakfast room. The absolute best for us was that they arranged for parking pretty much right in front of the hotel---a real plus in Florence.

It's funny that you say no one has ever heard of it---I tend to agree and have often wondered why it has not been mentioned by others. We would certainly stay there again.

Franco- I just read an old issue of Saveur, there was a feature on Florence, and hotel River was recommended.

Fluffy, thanks for the mention of Saveur magazine. What issue is this?

I'm really surprised this hotel is virtually unknown-even on tripadvisor.com. Only Sandra Gustafson's Great Sleeps Italy mentions it.

We are going to Florence next year and would like more info on this hotel. Several years ago we stayed at the Regency, which we enjoyed but want a new spot. Could you tell me how many stars it is rated as well as a web site or fax number. Please also give us a report when you return. Bon Voyage!

Letah, it's a 3* hotel. The website is www.hotelriver.com. Email is [email protected]. I would like to stay here also but I am not really sure if it'll happen. In any case if I do visit Florence I'll probably choose this hotel.

By the way, there are many pictures of the hotel on www.florenceby.com-better than the ones on the hotel's website.

If you go first let us all know how you liked the hotel!
