Looking for recommendations for hotels/resorts in the following areas:

1.) Rome - 3 nights

2.) Tuscany - 3 nights

3.) Florence - 3 nights

4.) Cinque Terre - 3 nights

I will be on my honeymoon and am looking to spend between $300 - $550 per night for the hotel. Thanks for your help.

What time of year will you be going?

Most of these area will have very pleasant hotels in this price range (although top class hotels will be more expensive at least in rome and florence). In tuscany you may find resort-like agriturismos. Have not been to Cinque Terre so can;t comment.

Are you looking for traditional european style hotels or more modern chain hotels?

where in Tuscany are you going to be? It's a big place, you know.

We will be going for 2 weeks in late May. We are looking for european style hotels. Although, we would like to mix in a modern spa type resort as well.

Not sure what part of Tuscany. Honestly, we will go wherever we find the resort that is the best fit for us.

If you want advice here on a "resort with the best fit," and you do not specify what exactly that consists of, it is unlikely that you will get helpful recommendations.

Will you plan to spend the day at the resort and not do any sightseeing? That is the only reason I can think of that one would not care about location in Tuscany. It is a big region.

I am guessing that this is your first trip to Italy (??)

In Rome , Hotel de Russie, Hotel Eden

in CT I recommend staying in Portovenere instead. We stayed at the Royal Sporting hotel and loved it.

If you do google searches for "Tuscany relais chateux" or "Tuscany resort spa luxury accommodation" you will come up with hits for almost all the accommodations of that type in Tuscany. Almost all of them are in very scenic locations, but there are few areas of spas that are probably not what you are looking for, even if you like the list of ameneties. You are probably not looking for the spas near Saturnia, Montecantini, Montesummano or Chianciano.

If you are looking to be in wine country, adding the word "Chianti" to the search string will narrow results to that wine region, adding the word "crete" to the search string will get you toward the Brunello wine area.

Regarding le Cinque Terre, resort hotels are not the norm because the attraction of the villages is that they consist of well-preserved fishermen's tenement housing. People find romantic and comfortable places to stay, but it not luxury. Portofino specializes in luxury accommodations. So does Santa Margherita Ligure to some extent, and it has easier transportation connections than Portofino if you are not planning to rent a car.

PS: Portovenere has no train station if you were thinking of day trips. There are ferries and buses out of town, but depending on weather, the ferries may not run and buses end around 8pm. It is better if you have a car for 3 days in Portovenere.

In Rome, I would recommend the Hotel San Carlo for at least a double superior room:

Remember to tell the folks with whom you're booking that this is your honeymoon trip. You may be able to score an upgrade, or at the very least, some free champagne.

For the Cinque Terre, Hotel Porto Roca in Monterosso is very nice and has an area of the beach below reserved for it's guests.It also has a wonderful restaurant.

In Florence, the Hotel Excelsior.

In Florence, my favorite small, boutique hotel is Antica Torre Tourabuoni. It is romantic and delightful, with a wonderful rooftop terrace. Some of the rooms also have private terraces and you select your exact room from their excellent website.

In Rome, Sofitel Roma is an elegant boutique hotel in a lovely and convenient area. For a more modern, eclectic experience Hotel Capo d'Africa is another personal favorite.
