hotel reservation trouble..whats up with it
I have planned many trips in the past but am having unusual problems with this latest one.
I emailed and/or and faxed several hotels in Paris, London and other cities in GR for availability for late this summer .Recieved no replys in most cases (so figured they were full)
I finally found some that replied and asked for My CC information.I promptly sent and waited...no confirmation. This is three months out so I need some arrangements made..so I e-mailed and asked for reply...no reply ...I tried faxing also
. Have been successful with 2 reservations (so I know it works)
Now several places have my information and I am wondering if they are going got try to charge first night fees..
.This has never happened to me before...what's the deal..anyone else have this problem?

Try using a different email account. For example, if you have an aol account, try it on yahoo or hotmail. I learned this a couple of years ago when I kept emailing hotels in Switzerland with no replies. I was using my email from work and I couldn't figure out why nobody would reply to me. A poster on this board suggested using a different account, so I tried it on hotmail. I emailed those same hotels on hotmail and presto, I got immediate replies. My best guess is they never got my original emails, or their reply never came to me. Try it and please post back with your results.

I've never had that happen, so this sounds very bizarre. Sure, I've had hotels not respond to requests, but never after I've given them a CC.
You can try a different email server (I wouldn't use hotmail myself, as I screen them out as junk, as do others--you could try yahoo.com or something). However, if you FAXed also, and have confirmation the FAX was transmitted correctly, I suspect that isn't the answer.
I'd worry if they had my CC number, and so I'd probably call myself. However, if you don't want to stay there, and don't want to pay for a call (just are worried), I guess you may just need to make sure you monitor your CC bills. However many did this happen with? That is really strange.
I can see a hotel running out of rooms in between asking for the CC number and getting it, that can happen, but they should respond to email telling you that. If they have email, this is completely unacceptable IMO.

Some e-mail accounts - esp on AOL - somehow cannot receive email from a lot of senders. (They have unilateraly cut me off from several newsletters to which I subscribe - including from major daily newspapers - on the basis that these senders send too much spam - don't believe it - and are unsafe.)
I would check your spam folders to see if they have accululated your answers there - and try another account. Yahoo doesn;t seem to have this problem as much.

Ok to be fair one is thru pariserve which handles the reservtions...so not communicating directly..
.but I had trouble with two b&bs in London that didnt send confirmations..
.I did notice today that a confirmation from the countryside was in the deleted folder so that must be happening!!
It's outlook and I cant figure out why it would be there...I checked blocked senders and there is nothing I recognized.. also checked the mail rules but it seems ok.. blocking words such as viagra so unless those confirmations contain those words.
.As the rooms in London are so expensive and the time close I am concerned about getting a room for week..I will try another account thank you
