Hotel recommendations in Venice.

We are looking for a hotel in Venice in the city center.
We will be there three days in September after a cruise disembarks.
It would be nice to be in a location where you can simply walk out and go to shops and restaurants and so on.
Thank you.

I wouldn't worry too much about shops the area is fairly small

1) budget

2) Noise/crowds. The more famous areas are pretty busy

3) How are you leaving?

4) packing light ?

Those are the things to worry about

The heavier you pack the less bridges you will want to deal with

We loved staying at Hotel Agli Alboretti in the Dorsoduro district. This neighborhood is quieter and much less crowded than San Marco. The hotel is a 1-minute walk from the Accademia Bridge and the Accademia vaporetto stop. It's about a 5-minute walk from the Zattere waterfront on the Guidecca Canal, 10 minutes to Ca Rezzonica, and about 20 minutes to Piazza San Marco. Our room was very comfortable with a large bathroom, and we had a separate sitting room, too. There are numerous good restaurants nearby.

We splurged and took a private water taxi from the train station to our hotel. Used Venice Link.

I second KarenWoo's suggestion for the private water taxi -- we used Venice Link, too.

Another vote for the private water taxi, it’s a once in a lifetime experience! Venice link often offers a discount, so keep checking. We were four, so it was well worth the expense.

Thank for the replies.
We will transfers from Ravenna post cruise disembarkation to the hotel so I thought getting a hotel first would be appropriate.
Does Venice link provide transfers from Ravenna? There will be 4 adults with luggage.

Check Hotel Nani Mocenigo Palace. We stayed there after an agritourismao near Verona. Our room was quiet, large, service and suggestions from the desk were helpful, and there is a delightful garden for a lovely breakfast.
