Hotel or Apartment in Nice

I'm finishing off my trip to France in April in the French Riviera. Think we'll be staying in Nice as I hear it's the best homebase. Was wondering if a hotel or apartment would be better. Some of the apartments look amazing for the money and like a better deal than hotels. Opinions? Any recommendations on either hotel or apartment? Merci!

How many of you will there be, how long will you be staying, and what is your budget for hotel or apartment?

Just the 2 of us. My boyfriend and I. 5 days, 4 nights. Budget between 400-500 euros. Thanks!

Most apartments require a one-week stay; so you'll need to start looking at hotels.

Underhill is right as a general rule but check apartment websites--some offer per night rates. However, if you are there around Easter, it may be harder to book an apartment for less than a week.

I would opt for an apartment if you can find one in a good central location--my preference would be in or near the old town and pedestrian area or overlooking the beach. I like the extra space, the chance to shop at the markets and make simple meals, etc.

In your price range you could probably find hotels in the old town. Sorry, am not too familar with Nice hotels. There have been some recent posts which recommend reasonable hotels.

Try the Hotel Suisse; rooms have great views.
