hotel opinion
I would like to be near the nightlife, museums and not central station - does anyone have an opinion, given my interests, between:
Hotel Toren
Amsterdam AMerican
Banks Mansion
Canal House
Pulitzer Hotel
Thank you so very much for your time

thank you all for your suggestions - I'm curious what rates you received at the Banks - and thank you for suggesting I narrow down my question.
This forum has been so helpful in planning my trip.

I am glad this forum has been helpful-- I have got to suggest three things:
1) tittles need to be more helpful; "hotel opinion" as a post title in a travel forum is pretty lame... 2) including the name of the city where the hotels are located in the post would help; you'll be amazed how common some hotel names can be, i.e. There is a Hotel Suecia in Madrid and a Hotel Roma in Prague, 3) when looking for opinions on hotel locales it is helpful to include the hotel's general address (i.e. street name). Just some hints in trying to be helpful all around...

We didn't book in advance at Banks it was a last minute trip and actually booked the hotel when we landed at amsterdam. This was Sunday this past Labor Day 06. We paid 219 Euro per night which inc. taxes and breakfast buffet(really good), free internet, free minibar and free open bar in lobby lounge. Rooms not huge but done very well and great bath with an awesome shower(giant rain style showerhead). Again location really good.
