hotel near termini in Rome

We are going to Rome in July for 3 days before going to the port for a cruise. I thought that a hotel near the train station would be convenient. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend Hotel Kennedy although it's less than your budget. The rooms were renovated a few years ago; staff helpful and pleasant. A few blocks from Termini, definitely walkable with luggage.

We have stayed at the Hotel Valle, just a short walk down from the Termini station, on three different occassions. It's a good location and we have always been happy with the rooms and breakfast.

A 5E taxi ride gets you in a much better part of historic Rome and away from Termini. Look at Hotel Lancelot, Hotel San Carlo and Nicolas Inn.

Another hotel under your price range, but in a good location (no elevator though) is Hotel Giardino. I stayed there in 2007 and will return this November prior to my cruise. It's a small hotel on the second floor with about 10 rooms. Katie is the owner and was great in booking my dinner reservations and making me feel at home. Rooms are simple, but comfortable. She serves a simple breakfast of breads, pastries, coffee, tea, etc. The location is about a 10 minute walk to the Trevi fountain, and about 15 minutes to Piazza Navona. http://www.hotel-giardino-roma.com/

You also might want to check Hotel Arenula in the very central Jewish ghetto neighborhood. We rented an apartment near the hotel and loved the area. The hotel is recommended by frommer's I know.

Arco del Lauro, a B & B in Trastevere also gets a lot of good reviews here and on Trip Advisor. Again I have not stayed there but would recommend the neighborhood

I would not stay near the termini just to be close to trains.

A couple of places the Fodor's Rome lodging writer is enthusiastic about:

Tiny Relais Le Clarisse in Trastevere: http://www.fodors.com/world/europe/i...ew-454536.html

Casa di Santa Brigida, a convent with no curfew on Piazza Farnesse (near Camp de' Fiori:
