Hotel Les Relais des Cinq Chateaux at Vitrac

Has anybody stayed at Les Relais des Cinq Chateaux at Vitrac recently? What is your opinion?

We drove by it last year. It looks very attractive from the road.

The Green Guide entry is more ambiguous. "A few rooms with modern amenities"! What does that mean? It has a few rooms but they have modern amenities or, it has rooms, a few of which have modern amenities?

Have you stayed there before? If you go there, I would be very interested to know what its like.

I'm planning a trip to the Dordogne next May and am thinking of it as possible option.

Is there a website? I can only find an e-mail address?

Have you any thoughts about fly/drive from Bergerac? Are there any flights from the UK into Brive?

Hi Bruce,

I am planning on staying at the Les Relais des Cinq Chateaux, but I thought that it was in Vezac.

If it is the same one, here are two links.

If you decide to stay there, please let me know what it was like.

FYI this place operates mostly as a restaurant, but has 10 rooms. The house itself is a modern one.
I have not seen any e-mail mentioned.

Yes, my mistake, it is in Vezac, not Vitrac.

Your links were very helpful. I had seen the http://www.hotels-sarlat-perigord.co...equestedPdt=12 site before but the other one includes more detail. Thanks.

Bruce:

I answered your question on another thread in some detail yesterday. I think my ultimate answer would be eat there, don't stay there. As I mentioned, it's on a very busy road into Sarlat and has little or no bufering from shrubs, trees, etc., which gives you a marvelous view of five chateaux but possibly considerable noise in the evenings. The rooms are very nice - spacious, airy, immaculate, well-appointed (at least the one room I saw - I've never stayed there). The restaurant is very good.

Thanks for your response.

I'm puzzled about the other thread. I posted a note on a thread which hadn't had any responses since June - and still hasn't - I checked this evening - so I don't know where your response went. However, your comments are helpful. I would be interested in the fuller detail though.

Hi Bruce,
We have just come back from the Dordogne and would highly recommend the Relais de cinq chateau as a resturant, we couldn't get a room there at the time.
We were recommended a chambres d'hotes called Chateau Nineyrol half way between La Roque Gageac and Beynac. What a great place, very comfortable the best beds in france for us,kind and thoughtful British owners, who were very generous with their time.
Dreamy views from the bedroom windows of the chateau of Castelnaud.
Phil does airport pick ups from Bergerac, and from the train station in Sarlat, one couple staying there just hired bikes for the week.
