My wife and I will be in Tenerife for three nights in February. We are flying into the South airport (TFS).
I would like a hotel near a beach. Not an expensive hotel or resort, just a nice place so we can relax.
There a so many hotels, it is hard to choose the best hotel for us.

I second the booking recommendation.

I stayed at the Hotel Colon Rambla. The breakfast was horrid.

In February, there will be two worlds in Tenerife: the South will be sunny and warm and nice while the North will be cloudy and cool or even rainy.

However, the South is dominated by mass tourism. Especially Los Cristianos, Playas del America and Costa Adeje are full of very large hotels offering poor service and horrible food.

For me, the most beautiful spot on Tenerife is Playa de la Arena, a scenic beach of black volcanic sand in a small cove. I would look for a hotel in walking distance to this beach.

It's been a while since I was in Tenerife, but I really liked the area around Playa del Duque which was relatively quiet by then.

The beaches in Tenerife aren't very attractive, so don't set your expectations too high.

Correct. The sand is imported from the Sahara.

This is true for most of the beaches. But there are a few with native sand which is volcanic black and very beautiful.

The most beautiful black beaches are in Lanzarote. In Tenerife the 'blackest' beach I know is La Arena on the westcoast.
