Hotel in Milan?
We are looking for a hotel in Milan for around (or under) 100Euros with a private bath and within walking distance of the Doumo. So far it seems that everything that has a half decent recommendation is already booked. New ideas are appreciated. We will be there near the end of March.

Helloo Wendyo, well we, or least I, have no idea what hotels have already been recommended to you. So coming up with new ideas is a problem.
A hotel in Milan within walking distance of the duomo with an ensuite bathroom for around or under 100Euro seems almost impossible to me. But I would suggest that if you haven't you go to www.tripadviser.com and research that website to see if you can get any information for a hotel in your price range. Best wishes to you.

The Duomo area is prime for tourists, so look in areas farther from the Duomo and near a Metro station. Try around the Stazione Centrale. I assume you've checked www.venere.com and www.tripadvisor.com.

I can recommend the Sanpi. A lovely boutique style hotel about a ten min. walk from the Duomo, but a 2 min. walk from the subway and a 1 Euro fare to the Duomo (the Milan subway is cheap). Milan hotels are fiendishly expensive as the city seems to be in a state of permanent Fairs and Expos. Still don't let that deter you as it is a great place to visit with "The Last Supper", via Montenapoleone, The Duomo, Pecks food store and many other attractions. Finding a decent place for 100 Euros may be difficult.

We were there for five nights and we felt perfectly safe. You do see a few people loitering outside bars on the short walk from the subway to the hotel, but that's nothing unusual for a big European city. I'm sure it's a whole lot safer than the Stazione Centrale area. The staff at the Sanpi are great and there is a fabulous Italian trattoria on the corner directly opposite the hotel that I can highly recommend. The cab fare from the Duomo is about E8. I'm sure you would enjoy your stay there. We would return to the Sanpi when next we visit Milan.

Hi
What about http://roxy.hotel-milano.it/ or http://www.hoteldelcorsomilan.com. Otherwise this site has quite a selection from 1 to 5 stars - http://www.artemotore.com/milano1stelle.htm.

Hi Wendy
We stayed at Hotel Speronari in June 2003 - very basic, but a decent sized room, clean, with aircon and helpful staff. The biggest plus was its location - literally just around the corner from the Duomo on a small laneway with a variety of food stores, and probably 200 metres from the Peck store.
We paid around 105 Euros (from memory) - we would stay there again - excellent value.
