Hotel In Cinque Terre
We will be visiting Cinque Terre in a few months and we found a nice hotel in Manorola - La Torretta. Is Manorola a good location to stay in while we visit Cinque Tere? Has anyone stayed at the La Torretta? If so. please let me know your thoughts/experience and do you recommend staying at this B&B or do you have a better hotel/b&B in a better location.

We stayed in Manarola a few years ago, at a B&B just a few doors down from La Torretta. If you get a room with a view, it would be brilliant as it is at the top of the village with the colourful buildings and sparkling sea below. It's a fairly steep walk up through the village from the train station to La Torretta but all the Cinque Terre villages are steep and built into the cliffs.
We liked Manarola, it's fairly small but there are restaurants and a little supermarket and a few shops. It's an easy walk to Riomaggiore and one night we caught the train there for dinner. We also did the walk from Corniglia to Vernazza which was reasonably hard (wear decent walking shoes) but had fantastic views along the way.
I think La Torretta sounds fine, unless you are not happy with the walk up the hill. There was one small hotel down by the water that wouldn't involve the uphill walk, I can try and find the name if you are interested.

We visited Manarola and it looked fun.
We stayed in Corniglia at http://www.cinqueterre-laposada.com/...partments.html
Ask for Sole y Luna apt. The views were out of this world.
I highly recommend it. Someday I will return with DH.
Wherever you stay, you will love CT. It is so laid back and remote. Heavenly.

Hi sunsethill, I'm pretty sure this is the hotel by the water but you could double check on Trip Advisor and see what people say who have stayed there -
http://www.hotelmarinapiccola.com/index.htm
It is not built right next to the sea but the closest hotel to the water.
This may help with your decision on where to stay -
Riomaggiore - a steep, small village
Manarola - same
Corniglia - the only village not by the water. It's set on top of a hill, reached by lots of stairs or a steep road
Vernazza - small village again but I think the prettiest and most touristy. A little flatter but has steep bits.
Monterosso al Mare - the biggest village, lacking in some of the atmosphere of the other villages, in my opinion.
They are all linked by train and the walking trail.
