Well I thought I had our Amsterdam hotel sorted. Was very excited to be staying at Maes B&B but have now found that they do not give you room keys and there is no room service even when there for 3 nights. I thought for 95 per night I might have my bed made! Anyway... I am desparately searching again. We have 3 nights in Feb would like somewhere in the Joordan(?) area I think. Had hoped to be able to walk from Central Station. Somewhere clean safe well located.

All sugestions greatly appreciated.

Hi.

There are many websites with hotel data. Try hotels.nl and channels.nl just to start. You may also look for deals on Orbitz and Expedia.

Amsterdam is small and the transportation is fine. Don't be disuaded if a prospect is not exactly where you want it. It is very easy to get where ever you want to be.

Do a google search for B&B Amsterdam. Also try B&Bs in Leiden and Haarlem. You can stay for half the price in a B&B in those cities. The train connections are very good so you can walk from Centraal Station to the heart of A'dam just as easily as from the Jordaan. But, what's wrong with making your own bed? Takes me about 10 seconds.

Consider Priceline. However, the main Amsterdam zone is a little large, but there seem to be good transport options for the available hotels so long as you stick to that zone. You also wouldn't get breakfast. But you could probably get a 3* or 4* hotel for the same price or less as the B&B.

Amsterdam is not all that large & by walking and using the tram you can easily get around. Personally I didn't at all care for the area around Central Station but much preferred the Leidseplein and Vondelpark. My impression is The Jordaan is similar in feel though I have not stayed there.

If you were excited about Maes, I'm not certain why lack of maid service or the key issue would disuade you.

The key issue is the main thing really. We had a bad experience in a well recommended B&B with no key in the past.

Thanks Travelnut I have contacted Hotel Brouwer and they have space so am thinking we will go with them. Unless anyone can come up with a good reason why not! They get good reviews at Tripadvisor and the local looks good.

Hi, yes I have stayed there before and I think it was fabulous..We had the top front canal room..I just loved it..It is imaculate as well..The breakfasts were also very good..We will stay with them whenever we go on our next trip to Amsterdam..(which i hope is soon as well)
