Hotel Galleria with Academia Bridge view not canal view

Have been offered a double room with a view of Acedemia bridge and not the grand canal for 110 euros per night for a double in early October.

Has anyone stayed in this room and is it good value.

Thanks

I haven't stayed in that room, but stayed along the corridor a little (in a Grand Canal facing room) and peeked in while the room was being made up one morning. I think it would still be a good room, perhaps a little noisy with the window open, as it overlooks an outdoor bar (the bar has a fantastic view of the Grand Canal by the way). We really liked the Hotel Galleria, great position, 2 mins walk to the vaporetto, friendly staff etc.

I'm a bit confused. How can you have a view of the bridge without a view of the canal as the bridge goes OVER the canal? Yes I suppose there are views of the canal without the bridge but I'd assume with the bridge you also get the canal.

We too stayed at the Galleria in a room down the hall from the one you speak. If it is in the corner, we did see one while they were cleaning. It was larger if it is the one and occupied the corner of the hotel. The pizzaria was below it (very good food). You see the bride mostly more than the canal itself due to the angle of the bridge and the window. Our room I think was on the 2nd floor. We never really spent that much time in our room except for sleeping, showers, and breakfast. Breakfast was entertaining watching the different barges (school, vegetables, McDonalds) travel down the canal. The location is great to walk most anywhere and the staff were very helpful.

I second McLaurie's question.

I stayed in a bridge view room a month ago and think your price is a good one.

The bridge is very large, and the end of it goes well over the sidewalk. So, depending on the angle of your window, you might only see the bridge instead of the Canal! We stayed at their "dependence" around the corner (ok...around the corner, over a bridge, around the corner, over another bridge....but only a 5 minute walk!). Location is great...hotel was great...I'd stay there again.

I stayed in the single which I think is next to the room you are talking about. I loved this place. Good location, friendly people, clean. You are in your room for so short a time, I would be less concerned about this. Second the motion for the pizzeria next door. Would stay in this hotel again.

Thanks for replies. Must say I was also curious that you could see the bridge and not the canal, but that is what they wrote in their e-mail. Sounds like a go.
