Hotel for just one night in Munich

We are arriving on November 28 for a one night stay in Munich before taking the train the next day to Vienna. Any suggestions on a centrally located hotel in the Mid price range?

I stay at the 3* Hotelissimo Haberstock. It is located just steps from the main train station. All the staff speak English and are very helpful. Great breakfast. The Marienplatz is a few blocks away and I have walked it hundreds of times-shopping all the way.

We spent the night at the Kings Hotel on Dachauerstrasse near the train station before a flight home. I'd stay there again - it was comfortable and convineint. Breakfast was pricey, but there are a bunch of places near the train station to get things.

I would stay very near the station.

Le Meridien has great prices for that week on the discount sites right now, as cheap as the 3 and 4 stars in the area and it is a great hotel.

I second Le Meridien especially at their discounted rate. Their first class facility and service are superior to the small local german hotels around the train station. It's very close to the train station as well.

I always stay at Le Meridien. Easy walking distance to pedestrian zone and across the street from Haupbahnhof.

Another vote for LeMeridien...across the street from the train station and please do not be put off when someone comes on here and talks about how "seedy" the neighborhood is...there are numerous ethnic restaurants and a couple of sex stores near the station..in fact, one of those sex stores is right across the street from LeMeridien.

The Marienplatz..great area but to get there from the train station area you have to pass by the HUGE sex store belonging to Beate Uhse and nobody here EVER dares to call that area 'seedy' so go figure

Kellyann16 - We were in the same situation this past May after our stay in Paris. We were flying out of Munich back home and needed a very convenient hotel within easy walking distance to the train station - and we found just the right place!

Right across from the station in a pedestrian mall is the Hotel Meier Munchen City, 12 Schutzenstrasse.
It was neat and clean as anything with a lovely buffet breakfast included for 120euros for a twin en-suite.

Here is the link: http://www.hotel-meier.de/en/home/

There are lots of hotels in all price ranges around the train station. Look at OctopusTravel.com for an idea of what is available. They don't always have the best prices but they will give you an overview. I suggest you have dinner at the Augustiner Keller close to the train station. People at the train station can point you in the right direction.

We have stayed a couple of times at the Europaischer Hof which is also just across the street from the Hauptbahnhof. Very nice and E142 vs E169.
