Hotel Florence Airport

We will be arriving by air from Sicily to Florence--with return to US the following morning.Looking for a hotel near the airport with shuttle service for our last night of a 3 week trip.

Have you considered staying in Florence itself? The airport is only about a 15 minute cab ride to the historic center. The fare is about E15 and Florence cab service is great. If you decide to do this, when you arrive go to the tourist info desk in the terminal. They'll call you a cab so you won't have to wait on a line. When I arrived at 10pm on a Saturday night, the cab line was incredible. I had a car called and it arrived in less than 10 minutes! In the morning, the hotel will call a car and it will arrive EXACTLY on time - best cab service I've ever seen. For a last night in Italy, Firenze would be very special!

I agree with Margaret. The airport is small and so close to the city that I am not sure why you would want to stay there........I would be surprised if there were airport hotels with shuttles given the size of the place and its proximity to Florence.

I agree, you will enjoy Florence a lot more if you can walk to attractions. Take taxi to hotel.....try Casci.

Sorry I took so long to Thank you for your advice. I didn't realize how close the city was to the airport. We have made a reservation at the Casci (after all the recommendations from other fodorites) for both ends of our Italy adventure.

An excellent solution; everything good you read about Florence taxis is true.
