Hotel Danieli or Hotel Villa Cipriani
Hello. These are part of the starwood family and we may be able to use our points(every little bit helps!. This is our first trip to Venice and wondering if anyone knows of them. Cipriani is about an hour outside Venice in Asolo; are we crazy to consider commuting? Thanks for your help

There is also the Hotel Gritti in Venice proper that I think is also part of the Starwood chain. Between either the Gritti or Danielli you cannot go wrong! They are both first class hotels..I prefer the Gritti because it is a little removed from the hubub of San Marks Square (although still very well situated)
Whatever you decide you will not go wrong! Make sure to have a Bellini on the terrace of the Gritti!
Ciao
Diva48

In addition to those mentioned, the Europa Regina is also a Starwood property in Venice & is supposed to be really great as well.
Asolo sounds beautiful from what I've read but it's not Venice. If you're going for a week, why not spend a few days there & the rest in Venice?

I've stayed at 3 Starwood properties in Venice....Hotel Gritti, Danielli and Europa Regina. Of these 3 my very favorite with a great location is the Europa Regina. If you're a Platinum member, try for an upgrade with balcony view etc. I wouldn't consider commuting....what for when you have great options within Venice? Good Luck.

Asolo is lovely, one of my favorite small Italian towns- this is where Queen Elizabeth vacations.

You may wish to spend a night or two there- lots of other lovely areas close by, but don't try to commute daily to Venice- too much traffic the closer you get to Venice

Daph
You don't have to be a hotel guest to use the Venice Cipriani's hotel's launch
I've used it to go over to the hotel for dinner and even just for a drink. From there you can explore elsewhere on Giudecca.
The launch lets you off in front of the hotel; you walk in on your own.

Hi

More info which may help

from an earlier post :
Author: lael
Date: 02/02/2003, 03:47 pm
Message: I have stayed at the europa-regina in venice and it was very nice. Has anyone stayed at the danielli? Can anyone give their ideas on staying at one vs the other? I will have my teenage daughter with me. Thanks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author: mclaurie
Date: 02/02/2003, 08:04 pm
Message: Lael- Have not stayed at either but since no one else has replied, I'd suggest you do a text search here (try Starwood AND Venice) as many people have asked the same or similar questions. Overall, people seem to prefer the Europa. As always, people's experiences are dependent on the room they get. A great room at the Europa is proabbly better than a lesser room at the Danielli. If you've already stayed at the Europa & have the opportunity to try the Danielli I would. Not sure how your daughter affects this decision although I gather the Danielli is a bit more formal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author: elaine
Date: 02/03/2003, 08:19 am
Message: I have not stayed at either, but I prefer the location of the E-R.
I would not like to constantly walk through the crowds on Riva Schiavoni where the Danieli is. And the E-R is more convenient for walking to Dorsoduro, one of my favorite areas of Venice.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author: lael
Date: 02/03/2003, 11:24 pm
Message: thank you for your input. I am leaning towards changing my reservation to the e-r esp. due to their waterside restaurant. It's only a few euros cheaper than the danielli

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author: mpprh
Date: 02/04/2003, 05:56 pm
Message: Hi

I've stayed at the Danielli.

It is well located, and generally excellent. Very historic, and pictured by several old masters.
But I can't make a comment because I've not stayed at the other one !

Peter
http://tlp.netfirms.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author: MIG
Date: 02/04/2003, 08:55 pm
Message: I've stayed at the Danielli. It is really very nice! The concierge made reservations at wonderful resturants for us. However my guess is you are going to Venice to see Venice rather than your hotel room, in which case you should decide primarily based on location (proximity to where you want to be).

Peter
http://tlp.netfirms.com

Good evening, garylinda
By all means stay at the Danieli whithin Venice is in an excellant location. The Ciprini at Asolo is 12
km from the nearest rr station and then
about a half hour ride into Venice SL.
Plus the time from the station to where
ever you are going to in Venice, either by vaporetto or walking...
Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..
