Hotel Bellettini - Florence

As the Euro climbs vs. the dollar, I am rethinking a few hotel choices (I need a clean place to wash and sleep, not the Ritz). Many have commented on the Annex rooms at Hotel Bellettini, but that adds about $40 per day, and I'll be booking two rooms for a week. How are the regular rooms, are they worth choosing this hotel still?

Yes, I would be very curious also - we are booked to stay there in September and we were quoted 124 euro per day.
Just want a comfortable room with airconditioning....Worth it?

Albert & Newbie,

I, too, am booked at the Bellettini in an Abbex room @124 EUR. I'm wonering the same...do I need the Annez over a standard room? We're going in December and I'm concerned about an adequate heater.
Topping for comments.

We stayed at the Bellettini in June of 2000. We were in the main building and had a large room which was actually 2 rooms - one with at least a queen and the other with 2 twins, and a beautiful and large bathroom. Airconditioning was wonderful. Great for 4.

I didn't know they had an annex so we must have been in the main building. Go up a little elevator, walk past the reception desk towards the breakfast room, turn right down the hall, on the left. Sorry, can't remember the room number.

We were surprised when we walked down a little street to get to the hotel and I thought what have I gotten us into but found the little elevator, went up to reception, and stepped into a hotel. It was fine. I would recommend it.

We stayed at the Hotel Bellettini a few weeks ago in their main building. We had a quad room and our friends had a triple.

The quad room was two flights up from the lobby, which I believe was on the third or fourth floor. It was quite large (was like the attic room) with 2 twins pushed together and 2 additional twin beds. The bathroom was very small. The room was air-conditioned, but it was not adequate to cool it much as it was HOT in Florence that day. We stayed only one night. For one night it was OK. I would not recommend it for a longer period. In the US fire code would never have allowed that room we were in to be used as a hotel room. The last stairway up to the room was about 18" wide, seriously!

Our friends were happy with their triple. I think we paid $180 Euro for the quad.

Dee

I'm thinking about this hotel too -- any others with experience in the "regular" hotel rooms?

My husband and I stayed at the Bellettini in May. We had a regular room on the same floor as the reception (the 124 Euro room, we received 10% off since we had Rick Steve's book, but you have to ask for the discount). The room was large and nicely furnished. The bathroom was ok, it was one where the entire bathroom showered with you. Our AC worked well enough, all of the hotels we stayed at did not have AC that worked as well as what we are used to in the US. The AC at the Bellettini was much better than that at our hotel in Rome that cost 240 Euro. If you're looking for a clean and friendly place, you should be very happy. I would stay at the Bellettini again. I would stay there again without a second thought.
