Hotel Auberge St Pierre--Mont St. Michel

Hello all:

We have made a reservation at Hotel Auberge St Pierre in October. We have read some good things but was wondering if anyone had actually stayed there and what they thought of it. I did a search and didn't come up with anything so if this has been covered, my apologies in advance. Thanks

Opps, "was" should be "were".

Also, any recommendations on good places for dinner? We could have reserved the room with dinner but opted not to in order to save the option of eating somewhere else. Breakfast will, of course, come with the room. Should we stay with the hotel for dinner or are there other/better/more regionally oriented places we should consider. I would imagine that our options may be a bit limited but any info would be great. thanks again!

Hi, Susan,

I have been trying to reserahc places to eat (not to stay) on Mont St. Michel. The D&K Eyewitness guide for France Hotel Saint-Pierre (along with La Mere Poulard) as their recommended restaurants (recommending crab, sole and lamb in particular). And, this restaurant is MUCH cheaper than La Mere Poulard. If we stop at the restaurant/hotel, I'll try to report back at the start of October. (Or, just copy my e-mail adress and drop me a note then, in case I forget).

Happy travels.

John H

Suzie:

We had trouble makine our reservations as well when we tried to contact the hotel directly. In fact, we tried emailng a couple of hotels on the Mont directly and did not receive a reply from any of them. So, a little web surfing brought up a page from Fil Franck Tours, Inc in New York. Their website is WWW.FILFRANCK.COM and we filled out a reservation form with them. I would prefer to deal with the hotel directly but this seemed the only way. Hopefully this will all work out.

In any event, we supposedly got a double for $150/night including breakfast, of course. They offered us the option of half board for $209 but we decided we wanted the leave the option of having dinner somewhere else--so we just made a reservation at the hotel restuarant that we can cancel if we find something better.

Hope this helps.
