"Hot" theater in London

Am planning my 28 year old daughter's first trip to London in October and she wants to see a "hot" show--something everyone is talking about. Any suggestions?

Jerry Springer the Opera, will certainly get you talking!

That is impossible to say - MANY shows will open/close between now and October. Jerry Springer has been running for a while and will certainly not be THE hot show come October. Ask again in a few months.

Perhaps your daughter should keep an eye on some websites to see what's coming up. Other people have posted the official listing sites for West End theatres many times, but some of the most interesting shows might not be listed there.

www.timeout.com is the indispensable listings magazine - but I can barely forgive them for the awful superimposed advert at the moment.

www.guardian.co.uk/arts/pickoftheweek/theatre
is one newspaper's review of the current week

http://news.ft.com/arts/arts is another

To elaborate on what has already been said. Many of the best shows have limited engagements, perhaps 6-10 weeks.

http://www.londontheatre.co.uk/ has news bulletins on upcoming shows as they are announced.

I recommend TImeOut London's picks as the time grows closer.

Hot show probably sold out by the time you hear about it. Go on a weeknight one hour early, get in the returns line, you will most likely get a good seat. Actually have done this successfully many times on weekends, but if it makes you nervous weeknight an even better bet.

Far too early to tell if they will be "hot" or not, but if your daughter likes musicals then The Woman in White is opening in September, and The Producers is opening late October.

Hmmm Woman in White sounds promising--Andrew Lloyd Webber score.

JERRY JERRY JERRY JERRY! Saw this Monday and it was everything we heard it would be - profane, over the top, a constant surprise, funny and not for the easily offended. The theatre was packed and we did not see anyone leaving in disgust. It won't play well to the Peoria dinner theatre crowd, but I suspect it will have a good run in the US starting next year. Enjoy it if you have the chance.

Can I jump in here? I'll be in London next month and already have tickets to see Jerry Springer. Has anybody seen anything playing currently which will still be around in early July that they would consider interesting? Not interested in things which have already been in New York.
