We stayed at Hotel Amadeus and it was a real treat. Wonderful quaint hotel, run by a mother-daughter team. Rooms were very nice, lots of antiques and very good service. It was only about 7 euros more than Hotel Simon. (which was one of our 3 choices, along with Hosteria del Laurel) We did check out Hosteria del Laurel and while the restaurant and it's immdiate area were a wonderful atomosphere, the rooms were more modernish, not a lot of character. But we did decide to stay there next time for all the great restaurant and tapas bars in the immediate area. (if you stay at the Laurel, try Casa Del Rey Moro a few doors down, FANTASTIC FOOD at great prices!) Hope this helps.

Thank you Paula. Can you tell me the location of the Amadeus as compared to the Laurel? Are they close to one another? Is one better located than the other? Also I cant find anywhere to see the Amadeus Hotel. I can't get on their website.

I stayed at the Hosteria del Laurel in September and like it. The location is great but the rooms are very plain and you do have to get used to the meat odor om the restaurant -- especially noticed it in the morning when I came down for breakfast -- we couldn't smell it at all in the room though. Hope this helps!

Paula
Thanks for your confirmation and thumbs up of the Amadeus. Yours is the second highly favorable post I've read about it in the last week. I'm eager to try it out during Seville's April feria. Even then, in that "extra season" when Seville hotel rates skyrocket, the Amadeus's rates are still fairly reasonable, all things considering. But so are the Hosteria del Laurel's. I chose the Amadeus because of Olga's report (I value and trust her judgement) and others, its mother-daughter team management, the musical theme, plus it's gotten lots of favorable reviews in the intl travel press, and because it's new, everthing will be "fresh" and up to date.

caroline,
If the Amadeus will fit your budget, I'd go for it. My second choice would be the Hostería del Laurel. The Simon would come last, but it is a member of the "Estancias de España group and they're pretty trustworthy. The rooms are just more basic, and it's not located in the Santa Cruz quarter as are the Amadeus and Hostería del Laurel. And those 2 are not far apart at all-a very short walk (correct, Olga?) The Hostería del Laurel is right on the Plaza de los Venerables, a cute little square, across from the Casa Román tapas bar-very lively at night.

Hi Caroline,

I had posted the website in my message but maybe it was taken out. Do a search for "hotel amadeus sevilla" The address iswww.hotelamadeussevilla.com)and it will come up. Go to their direct website for views of a lot of the rooms and prices. you can reserve from there and I did it all by email. I just gave my credit card info in 2 seperate emails for safety. They were very nice. I am not saying that I wouldn't stay there next time (going next year) I very well may. It's just a hard decision. We stayed in room 101 (the atlantico) for 76 euro a nite. If you go to their website and view the room pictures it was the 3rd room at the top row, 1st set of pics) the mattress was a nice one, firm, a full double (or maybe a queen, I forget) Walking distance between the Laurel and Amadeus is about 10 minutes but it would be hard for me to give you the street directions. It is a nice little plaza where the Laurel is located and that would be the only reason we may choose Laurel next time. But we will be sacrificing room quality (read antiques and character) for location if we do. Hope this helps.
