Portoghesi or Albergo Del Senato

Both have availability for my dates. Any comments on these hotels - Portoghesi has had some earlier bad press, don't know if staff problem should still be an issue.

Any comments as to which is better located.

Thanks again.

Surely there is a difference in price. The del Senato is the better hotel but not $50 better--if that is the $. I prefer the Cesari which should be in the middle price wise. Good luck !

Yes the Portoghesi does get bad press but it is a good location. But have you tried the Hotel Due Torri? Same area and nearly perfect ratings on this thing. Its friendly, comfy, Italian and has a great location.

I keep hearing good things about Due Torri, but their website doesn't make me want to beat down their doors.

Bob - the price difference between Portoghesi and Del Senato is more like 75 euros per night.

I also considered both the Portoghesi and the Albergo del Senato for a trip in June. The price difference between the two for a quad room was only 42 Euros, which I concluded was a small price to pay for the del Senato. I was also not impressed with the Portoghesi reservation system, which may be an indication of why it has received some bad press. The Cesari was actually more than both of them.

Stayed at the Portoghesi in Nov. 2001 and had a very good experience. Used this site to make my decision (even with the bad press that this hotel sometime gets) - I decided that the extra money wasn't worth the other hotels. Have no regrets and would stay at the Portoghesi again without a second thought. Although the room was small, it was modern, modern bathroom, clean and very quiet. Good but simple breakfast. Great location. Good luck.
