Hop On Hop Off Buses in Rome
I found a link on this web site for the Hop On Hop Off bus line - has anyone tried this? For about 31.00 for two days you can ride this bus line and get on and off anywhere. It also includes a boat ride on the Tiber. Sounds good but I am looking to see if anyone has tried it. I think many major cities in the US have something like this because some friends and I did a trolly tour in Savannah like this. It was great because you could get off at any point and shop, eat, etc. and then catch the next trolly that came along to go somewhere else in the city. I believe Boston has one too.

I used one of these buses in London. It was worth every penny! It took you with commentary to all the important sights. It was entertaining and informative and always different depending on the guide you ended up with. It also allowed you to become oriented with the area so that later you could use the subway to get around cheaper.

Hi Benita
Yes. It is very good. I think from memory it is the no.110 bus. It departs from the bus depot next to the Termini. Comfortable tour coach used with an English speaking guide. From memory there are two "plans". We did the tour but there is also the Hop on Hop off service. The tour was 14 euros. My tip is save your money - I really don't think you need a two day pass. The historical centre is pretty compact. The tour will help you to get familiar with location of attractions etc. Once you do this you will enjoy just walking and taking in the atmosphere of this magnificent city. If you need to get anywhere in a hurry use the Metro - it's cheap!
Have a lovely time.

Yes - I have had someone else tell me that most of the sights a person would want to see i.e. the "popular" ones are not spread out all over Rome and just soaking up the atmosphere and watching the people is appealing. Thank you.
